Social work practice at the macro level involves advocating for social change and social action, eliminating economic disparities, social injustice, and exploitation.

Explore the website of the Child Protective Service (CPS) agency for your state. Find articles on CPS from your state that discuss organizational issues or dysfunctions regarding the agency at a macro level. This assignment examines the functions and dysfunctions of organizational structure. Use the table in the worksheet to address the following:

1.The NYC for the Blind assists legally blind New York citizens, including the adults, elderly and children, with vocational rehabilitation and other direct assistance. One of its objectives is to assist clients in attaining financial independence.

2. Adult Protective Services – Receives, examines, and categorizes allegations of frail and vulnerable adults being neglected, exploited financially or abused. Assistance is given in the form of safety monitoring, referrals to other service providers, assistance with obtaining benefits, and money management.

4. How would you address ethics and diversity in your chosen role? How would you support the organizations diversity policies or initiatives?

Implement a policy that specifies and penalizes employee misbehavior. To guarantee that policy changes are successfully implemented, provide resources and educational opportunities to all staff. To report ethical violations, use a secure system. (Fleming, C. J. 2020)

To address diversity, encourage employees to work in a variety of groups, make decisions based on objective criteria, and be liberal when addressing employees.

You can help your organization's diversity policy by advocating for fair employment opportunities and recognizing the benefits of diversity. Implement successful workplace diversity practices.

5. What are the functions of CPS as a bureaucracy? Use Weber’s theory.

CPS's role is to intervene to safeguard children's safety and well-being. With the goal of allowing children to stay in their homes if they are found safe and capable of providing a safe environment. (Fleming, C. J. 2020)

6. What are the dysfunctions of CPS as a bureaucracy? Use Weber’s theory.

As a result of CPS, children have been depersonalized. It is also incapable of dealing with individual details, which were better suited to prior types of child justice. (Fleming, C. J. 2020)

7. How would you apply systems theory to CPS?

CPS may employ systems theory to ensure that children under CPS protection are protected in collaboration with their family members, thereby avoiding emotional and psychological pain for the victims. 8. What suggestions do you have for improving large bureaucratic agencies such as CPS?

The following are some recommendations for overhauling huge bureaucratic agencies such as the CPS:
