MAJOR ESSAY

I remember the first time I stepped into an accounting classroom, beginning of 8th grade, with no idea about accounting except what I could make out of its name. I stared at the blank board wondering why something which sounds as simple as that would even be considered an important aspect of education. I had no clue how well I would eventually get with the foundations of the subject.

Within a short period, I started engaging myself more with the classes and the lessons. Understanding the calculations and the logic behind such made the challenge of analyzing critical financial data interesting and exciting.

With time, I began performing very well in accounting classes, albeit at the expense of my focus being drawn in from other courses. I picked up on that, and used the efficiency that I had recently learned to live by to detail my study plans accordingly. Soon, I began to see how most of the subjects would share common ground. This implied that there was more to accounting than I had imagined, that I could use the concepts in other areas of education and life, in general, and contribute to the world. That was when I planned to study a business degree with a major in accounting.

In Bangladesh, the rate of autism spectrum disorder is rising and I want to play a vital role to ensure that there is a reduction in the growth. Studying accounting and finance will, in time, assist me with conceiving plans to help those who are unable to contribute to their fiscal duty back home. I am yet to discover the key links between my pre-existing strengths and the outcomes I wish to influence at some stage, and thats precisely what a higher degree in accounting will help me establish.
