Primary Source Reflection – Week 6

Primary Source Reflection – Week 6

For our week six primary source reflection, I want you to read George Washington’s inaugural address from 1789 (find it here). This reflection will be very open-ended, and I want to know two simple thing. What does this address tell you about George Washington and how he thought of the new country that had just been forged? How does he intend to approach his new job?

Finally, do you think that Washington’s approach to the presidency is similar or different to that of recent presidents?

I really look forward to reading these reflections, and remember that they need to be between 300 and 500 words! As always, outside sources are welcome, just make sure to cite them properly!
