Overview

A blog is written in an informal or conversational style and usually accessible through a blog owners individual or business website or social media. Blogs typically include text, pictures, videos, and links to other sites. It is often meant to share information on a specific topic.

For this discussion assignment, you will write a high-level, informational blog directed to the general public. This blog should align to the same industry (financial or healthcare) that you chose for Part 1 of your midterm. We will use the discussion forum format for you to post your blog and comment on at least one classmates blog.

Part 1

By Wednesday, post your initial blog post. Direct your blog to a non-technical audience and consider, how you will make your write-up catchy to grab a readers attention. At a high-level, you should answer the following questions in your blog:

  • What are security and privacy?
  • Why do organizations (in either healthcare or financial services) need to worry about security and privacy?
  • What resources (laws, regulations, standards) are available to people to find out more about compliance requirements?
  • Why should the average person be concerned?

Part 2

Respond to at least two of your classmates’ blogs by SUNDAY. Your responses should include probing questions and alternative perspectives. If you receive responses to your initial blog post, ensure you respond back to them to keep the dialog going.

Discussion Expectations

Your discussion post should fully answer the prompt above (due WEDNESDAY). Then respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by SUNDAY. Your responses to your classmates should add substantial detail and alternative perspectives. You must make an initial post before you are able to view the posts of your peers.
