Population Mental Health Today: Confronting the Challenge

The article is making the audience aware of Population Mental Health which is the dispersion of awareness regarding mental health and psychiatric disorders. Mental illness is so common worldwide but not spoken about enough. The article talks about how psychiatric disorders are affecting societal health, the sickness is spread throughout any race, gender, and socioeconomic status. This article has everything to do with my research because it answers the specific questions my research is based off. Efforts to improve mental health are being taken by studying the deceased with evidence of the disorder to provide effective treatment globally. It is important that we kill the stigma on mental health help and make it an easy conversation to have. People are scared or intimidated when speaking about mental health, but it is so common these times. It also shed light on how proper help was limited to certain demographic groups, starting back in the 1970s.

Researching Mental Health in Minority Ethnic Communities: Reflections on Recruitment

The passage talks about the recruitment of research participants related to mental health in black and ethnic minority communities. The needs of those of the minority are often pushed to the side and catered to too late. This research is based in the United Kingdom, but it will still relate to my research by giving an unfamiliar perspective, being I am in America. In effect of diverse research participants, conclusions differed dramatically. Researchers need to loosen recruitment strategies to develop clear conclusions. We need to do more in our communities to incorporate all cultures and races in the research being done to weaken the statistics and stigma. It says that systematic research needs to be added in the process of this research for it to be successful.
