Evolution Of Cats

Purpose: Demonstrate the ability to apply the principles presented in the course to major biological questions

Structure:The number of pages should be appropriate for a serious consideration of the topic, but a precise number is not required .The argument of the paper must rely on current, peer reviewed, journal articles (other sources can be used for definition of terms or illustrations); you must have at least 5 peer reviewed references of recent date. Make sure you use proper citation format of the information, data, ideas, quotes, etc. that appear in the paper, whether you directly borrow verbatim or paraphrase (most probably every paragraph will contain at least one citation, since the paper is unlikely to be based on your own original experiments or fieldwork). The paper should be divided into sections with headings; you should have a title page with your name, date, and course# .The first section should be an Introduction that states the problem being considered with a short history of when the topic was first considered by researchers. A final section, the Conclusion, should make clear what YOUR opinion is and how you support that opinion. Between the Introduction and the Conclusion, you should have a couple or a few other sections that sets out the different hypotheses that have been suggested to answer the question. For each hypothesis you should summarize what the hypothesis states, what methods were used to test the hypothesis, and what the strengths and weaknesses are. Put graphs, charts, tables, and illustrations on separate pages and make sure that they have labels where appropriate, as well as citations and legends A bibliography must be appended; you may also use endnotes or footnotes, and all statements in the body of the paper that not your own must be properly referenced.
