Discussion Board Post #2 (20%): Components of a Closing Report

Posting Directions: Please note that this assignment is due the last week of the term. This must be completed

within the term to receive marks, so please ensure that you have it done by the due dates.

One (1) Original Post (15%): Due Wednesday, April 20th @ 11:59pm This assignment is to be completed on the Discussion Board in the Blackboard course shell. Click

on the title “Discussion Board Post #2 Assignment (20%)” to get started. Then click “Create

Thread” to start your Original Post. In the “Subject” field, title your thread with your name and

complete your work in the Message field. You may save a draft of your work at any point. Do

not forget to click “Submit” when you are finished otherwise your assignment will not show up

and will be considered late or not completed.

One (1) Reply to Another Student’s Post (5%): Due Thursday, March 21st @ 11:59pm After you post, you will be able to see posts of other students (provided someone else has

posted). If you do not see a post, wait until the deadline for the Original Post and then check

again for other student posts. You should reply to 1 Original Post by 1 other student by the

deadline, see assignment directions below.

One (1) Original Post (15%): Your original thread is due no later than Wednesday, April 20th at 11:59pm. Read “Case Study

Part 4: Cody’s Words in Closing”, which can be found in the Case Study Information tab on

Blackboard. You will use this part of the case study for the assignment.

Your original post is a brief closing report. For the purpose of this assignment, you will only

include the following:

1. Write the reasons for discharge (1-2 paragraphs). Discuss what progress has been made.

I.e., Cody’s mood changes, changes in prosocial behaviour, improved engagement with

responsibilities outside of the residence.

2. Write a summary of effective resources used for change (1-2 paragraphs). Discuss

supports that Cody has made use of in his growth (i.e., engagement with service

providers, support groups, family relationships, and peer relationships).

3. Write the follow up plan that Cody has agreed to or supports that he might continue to

engage with as he leaves residential treatment (1 paragraph).

All the above should include only factual information (Cody’s writing is factual). Use the

conventions of professional and ethical writing (written for a professional audience, free from

emotional tone or writer’s bias, accurate, strengths-based, anti-oppressive, includes young

person’s voice, and free from spelling and grammar errors while being clear, concise, and

complete).

One (1) Reply to Another Student’s Post (5%): Your one (1) reply is due no later than Thursday, April 21st at 11:59pm. Reply to 1 other

student’s Original Post. Offer detailed, helpful, and constructive feedback.

1. In 1-2 paragraphs discuss how their writing is effective and if applicable, a suggested

edit to that could help their writing be more effective. Be specific and helpful in your

feedback. Use course terminology to support your ideas.
