Select ONE article from ONE of the following journals listed below

Journal of Advertising
Journal of Advertising Research
Journal of Consumer Marketing
Journal of Consumer Research
Journal of Marketing
Journal of Marketing Research
Journal of Retailing

The ONE article you select must report a study related to the concepts we have studied thus far in Consumer Behavior and MUST come from ONE of the journals listed above. (If you submit an article from a journal that is not in the list above, you will receive a zero grade for the assignment.) Article should be less than 5 years old.

Note:  Sometimes these journals include opinion pieces or editorials; such article do not report a study and should not be selected. Also sometimes the journals include articles that are a review of the literature – reports of studies done by others.  These kinds of articles also do not meet the criteria for the assignment.  The article you select MUST come from a journal on the list AND it MUST report a study done by the authors – not done by someone else.

For the article review, you need to include each of the following 6 sections SEPARATELY WITH LABEL FOR EACH ANSWER.
1. Complete Bibliographical entry for the article reviewed. Use a complete bibliographical format that conforms to either APA, MLA or Chicago standards for the article being reviewed. Do NOT design your own! (Also do not include all of the sources provided at the end of the article.)
2. Description of the basic purpose/focus of the article and the research question addressed. Concisely describe the purpose or goal of the research, including the primary research questions posed by the authors, the primary variables under discussion, and why the authors believed this research is important.
3. Description of the procedure used. Provide a clear overview of the methods used in the research, such as interviews, surveys, etc. Also include the number or respondents and the types of analysis (including statistical analysis) that was involved.
4. Conclusions. State clearly he conclusions drawn by the authors and what, if any, limitations or provisions the authors included.
5. Analysis of the findings Analyze this article, identifying any areas that seem questionable and providing reasons based on the concepts we have studied thus far.
6. Analysis of the value of the research. Analyze the value of this research and how this research adds to the knowledge that is helpful in developing marketing strategy. (Answer the question: so what?)

The review should be about 3-5 pages excluding bibliography. The review should be well written and well organized so that the ideas are clear, demonstrating clear understanding of the concepts. One strategy for organizing the review is to use the sections provided above as subheadings. The use of subheadings helps to keep the review focused and helps to be sure to all aspects of the assignment are clearly covered.

Your written assignment is intended to show your understanding of important concepts and to sharpen your intellectual skills of analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and application. The intent of the written assignment is to provide an opportunity to more fully describe, explain, and analyze the ideas in the journal article.
