Part I: Short Identification
Please identify Six of the following terms. DATE them as accurately as you can (i.e. Century or dynasty that existed during that time period) and indicate why they were SIGNIFICANT in the context of East Asian history (note: Significance is not the term is significant because it is important to East Asian history. You must explain how and why the term is important). You MUST answer three IDs from China, two IDs from Japan, and one ID from Korea (Answers of four to five sentences should be sufficient). Please note, if you do more than six IDs, only the first six will be counted.

Part II: Essay question
1. China, Japan, and Korea are usually considered the three countries that form East Asian Culture. As we have introduced in this class, these three countries had a long history of political, cultural, economic, and religious connections. In a well-organized essay, please answer: How can you define East Asian culture? How would you characterize the main features? Please identify a few major topics, such as political systems, philosophy/belief, religion, culture, language, economy, and etc. (You do not need to address all these topics, but you must take at least four of these perspectives). [Word limit:700 words] Your essay should cite at least three primary sources from the readings assigned to this class. You do not need to provide citations for the source, but you need to state the title of the sources in your answer.
