Proton radiation is a technique that uses protons (rather than photons) to treat cancer. It generally has similar cancer-killing properties to standard photons (x-rays) but have physical properties that allow the radiation to deposit dose with less normal tissue damage. The machines are generally much more expensive, however, than standard linear accelerators that make x-rays. One of your competitors in NYC now has a proton machine. Your hospital administrator asks you about acquiring one. Discuss how you would design a cost-effectiveness analysis to answer this question.
