military distributed to American soldiers during the war. What was the status of African-Americans in the United States in 1940, the year before the
Second World War, until the end of 1950? Did it appear that White or Black soldiers (depending
on your assigned questionnaires) were supportive of ending segregation in America, and if they
were, what kinds of changes did they envision?
