A brief synopsis of the work, highlighting and summarizing the main ideas focused throughout the book. This should not take more than two or three paragraphs.
An analysis of the work, in which you will evaluate the writers research and/or conclusions presented in the book. This will form the bulk of the book review project. Here are some typical questions which you may need to examine:
A.What is the authors main objective and viewpoint?
To what extent has the author achieved his or her objective in writing the book?
What are the authors underlying assumptions/hypotheses?
What support does the author present for the arguments made in the work? (evidence, in other words!) How would you evaluate the use of the support presented, perhaps in the form of research data, examples, statistics, outside authorities, logic and reasoning?
What are the books shortcomings, if any? Any specific points that you did not find convincing? Why/why not? Do you recommend this book? Why/why not?
How does the author contribute to a better understanding of the subject matter?
What are the authors conclusions? Do you agree? Why/why not?
To what extent do you find yourself relating to or connecting with the ideas presented in the book on a personal level? Be specific.
