This assignment consists of a paper summarizing an interview with a person from a different culture than yours. You will be required to read about that persons culture before you interview the person. Afterward, interview one person about their culture drawing on your background and knowledge from your text, research articles, chats, and posts. When writing your paper do not include any personal information (i.e., full name, address, date of birth, etc.) that may identify the person you interviewed. Any information that may identify the person must be removed to protect confidentiality. Therefore, always disguise the name and other personal identifying information when you write about the person you interviewed. Make sure to ask the person you interview for permission to write about the interview in your paper.

For your paper you will be required to use peer-reviewed articles and/or class text to gain some background knowledge about this persons culture. You will summarize information from these readings in your paper as well as the responses of the person you interviewed. Your summary of the interview is not a verbatim transcript. I expect you to summarize and describe in your own words the main themes your interviewee discussed. While you may use direct quotes in this section, please keep them to a minimum.

Your paper should also integrate and be informed by some of the content you learned as a result of your course and assignment readings. You should include demographic information of the person you interviewed (age, sex, gender, school and/or work history, marital status, etc.).  Also, include their view of their culture and challenges and successes that they have encountered as part of their ethnic group. Include any misperceptions they consider other ethnic groups may have about their culture. You will examine the persons views and perspectives and contrast them with your own views and the information you read. Finally, describe how the background information you read prior to meeting with the person and the information the person shared in the interview were similar or differed. While a specific number of pages will not be prescribed, this paper will likely be 5 to 7 pages long and should follow APA Style guidelines.

In your reference page please remember to include your interview. There is an example in your APA 6th edition text which discusses how to reference a transcription of an interview. Please include 5-6 scholarly references in your paper.
